In Germany, individuals tend to engage in about thirty minutes of physical activity a day, though they spend considerably longer periods in front of screens. The Federal Statistical Office reported that men and women aged ten and up clocked in around thirty-four minutes of sports time in 2022, which is five minutes more than a decade prior. Notably, men participated in sports for roughly thirty-six minutes each day, while women spent thirty-two minutes on physical activities.
Excluding school sports programs, Germans dedicate nearly four times the amount of time in front of a screen. With an average of two hours and eight minutes, nearly a third of spare time involved watching television and streaming content. People engaged in activities with friends and family for one hour and fifteen minutes per day in 2022. This also encompassed phone calls, electronic communication, and interactions through social media.
Computer and smartphone usage equated to roughly half an hour, or thirty-three minutes, per day. Non-social media reading consumed twenty-seven minutes. The average individual spent eleven minutes resting and five minutes pursuing hobbies.

Despite the daily physical activity, People in Germany spend more than two hours each day in front of screens, mainly for watching TV and streaming content. Despite engaging in activities with friends and family for an hour and fifteen minutes, screen time still dominates a significant portion of their free time.
