- In an unexpected shift, ARD temporarily halts its evening broadcast, handing over the reins to the younger generation.

Under the hashtag #KIDSREVOLT, ARD interrupted its prime time programming at 8:15 PM on their first channel, switching things up for a 15-minute broadcast. Comedian Carolin Kebekus hosted the special event, giving youngsters a chance to take control of various shows like "Morning Mag", "Sports Show", "News", "Quizzed - Hunted", and even the roles of "Tatort" investigators.

Quick clips showcased kids discussing pressing matters such as the push for child rights enshrined in the constitution, tackling concerns like cyberbullying, child abuse, financial hardships, and insufficient recreational facilities.

"Tatort" took a break

As the "News" anchor for the night, Noemi shared: "Recent studies reveal that youth in today's world are looking towards the future with more despair than ever before. My generation grapples with fears of war, social fragmentation, and climate change. These continuing crises contribute to elevated psychological pressure." Consequently, the actual "Tatort" episode had to shift to 8:30 PM due to the unexpected broadcast.

WDR head honcho Jörg Schönborn justified the unconventional move, stating: "It's our societal responsibility to highlight children's rights more. We aim to contribute to this initiative with the resources at our disposal and an abundance of kid-friendly content in public broadcasting."

Kebekus, fresh off parenting duties with her January baby, told the German Press Agency: "Children's rights in our country still often go unnoticed. Over 20% of children and young adults are at risk of poverty or social isolation. I yearn for a strong, clear political stance on addressing this pressing societal issue. Sadly, the children's advocacy group is far too underrepresented."

The special event hosted by Carolin Kebekus allowed children to take control of various shows, including "Morning Mag" and "Sports Show." Due to the unexpected broadcast of #KIDSREVOLT, the "Tatort" episode had to be delayed until 8:30 PM.
