In a judicial ruling, Justin Timberlake emerges victorious

In June, Justin Timberlake found himself in trouble with the law when he was taken into custody for driving under the influence. After nearly three months, on a recent Wednesday, Timberlake managed to reach an agreement with the judge in his case. According to the celebrity news source, "TMZ", this settlement did not involve any DUI charges or criminal indictments.

Currently, in the midst of a world tour, the 43-year-old superstar admitted to a traffic violation only. The singer's lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., and the prosecutor, persuaded the judge to accept this settlement: the DUI charge would be dropped, and instead, Timberlake would plead guilty to driving while intoxicated.

The punishment, consequently, is less severe. Timberlake now faces a fine between $300 and $500. The exact amount of the fine will be determined during a hearing next Friday when the agreement will be formally presented in court.

Timberlake Escaped Jail Time

This is a significant win for Timberlake, who initially faced up to a year in jail following his June 18 arrest in Sag Harbor, Long Island.

The singer was taken into custody after allegedly running a stop sign and driving off-center on the road. During a court hearing in the United States, Timberlake pleaded not guilty, as reported by various American media outlets. He maintained his innocence, claiming he had only consumed one martini.

Despite this, Timberlake's driver's license was still suspended. As reported by "TMZ", this is a standard procedure because he refused to submit to an alcohol test after being pulled over. In New York, refusal of an alcohol test results in a one-year suspension of the driver's license automatically.

The Commission did not press any DUI charges against Timberlake in his settlement, as part of the agreement made by his lawyer and the prosecutor. Following the settlement, The Commission will monitor Timberlake's compliance with the stipulated fine and driving while intoxicated plea.
