At the 2024 Golden Globe Awards' 81st edition, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa made an appearance in January.

In 2018, Patti Scialfa, the spouse of renowned musician Bruce Springsteen, was diagnosed with blood cancer.

Scialfa, who skipped the Toronto Film Festival's debut of "Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band," hasn't publicly discussed her health struggles, which she explains in the film have kept her from touring.

As she stated in the movie, reported by Variety with a present reporter, "This affects my immune system, so I need to be cautious about my decisions and destinations." Occasionally, she manages to attend a show and perform a few tunes, which she finds enjoyable. "That's my current routine, and I'm content with it."

Scialfa unveiled her health issue as multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that doesn't always necessitate immediate intervention, according to the Mayo Clinic.

"Slow-growing multiple myeloma without symptoms might initially involve close monitoring." For those with multiple myeloma who require treatment, "multiple options exist to manage the disease."

Scialfa's representative declined to provide additional details when approached by CNN for comment.

Springsteen too has grappled with health concerns.

He delayed some shows last year to "recover gradually from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks," adding that he planned to "proceed with treatment throughout the remainder of the year, as advised by the doctor."

Scialfa joined the E Street Band in 1984 and tied the knot with Springsteen in 1991. The pair share three children.

"Road Diary" was directed by Thom Zimny, who has previously handled other Springsteen and band projects like "Springsteen on Broadway" and "Western Stars."

Despite her health challenges, Scialfa occasionally finds enjoyment in attending shows and performing a few tunes. This type of multiple myeloma that she has, as per the Mayo Clinic, might initially require close monitoring without interventions.
