- "I'm a little bit upset": Why George Cloney is angry at Quentin Tarantino
George Clooney gave an interview to GQ magazine with his friend Brad Pitt, where Quentin Tarantino was also discussed. Clooney addressed a not-so-flattering comment that the director had supposedly made about him.
"Quentin recently said something stupid about me, and it kind of pissed me off," Clooney said, after dismissing Tarantino's acting skills as "just okay." Clooney, who starred in Tarantino's classic "From Dusk Till Dawn" at the beginning of his film career in 1996, recalled, "He did an interview where he named film stars, and he talked about you [Brad Pitt] and someone else, and then this guy said, 'Well, what about George?' He said, 'He's not a film star.' And then he literally said something like, 'Name me a film since the millennium.' And I thought, 'Since the millennium? That's pretty much my entire fucking career.'"
Is George Clooney not a film star?
After Brad Pitt laughed at the anecdote in the interview, Clooney joked, "Now I think, 'Okay, man, fuck off.' I have no problem giving him shit. He's done it to me too." In a more conciliatory tone, Clooney added, "But no, we're really lucky to have worked with these great directors. Directing and writing are what keep you alive. And I learned that after making some really bad films. You can't make a good film out of a bad script."
Clooney also had harsh words for another director in the interview. The actor worked with David O. Russell on the satirical war film "Three Kings" in 1999, and it was previously known that there were conflicts on set. Clooney said in the interview that he only wants to work with people who enjoy what they do. "The older you get, the more important it is to divide your time. Five months of your life is a lot. It's not just about making a really good film like 'Three Kings' and then having a shitty person like David O. Russell making my life hell, and everyone else on the crew's life hell. It's not worth it. Not at this point in my life. Just to have a good product."
George Clooney found it disappointing when Quentin Tarantino dubbed him as not a film star in a recent interview, as Tarantino struggled to name any of his films from the millennium. Despite the tension, Clooney acknowledged the importance of working with talented directors like Tarantino and David O. Russell, emphasizing the value of directing and writing in filmmaking.
