Kate Winslet (48, "Titanic"), the Oscar-winning actress, was awarded the CineMerit Award at the Munich Film Festival on Tuesday evening at the German Theater. The prize was presented to the British actress by her co-star David Kross (33) from the German-American Oscar-winning film "The Reader" (2008).

"I have never experienced a actor who has fought for every single cast and crew member on set like she does," gushed Kross before handing over the trophy to his colleague. After the applause had died down, Winslet thanked the audience for the award, which has been presented to filmmakers since 1997.
