"I don't give a shit that you're Madonna"
Visitors to Madonna's concert in Cologne could already tell you a thing or two about it. Now the singer's fans at a show in New York have also been affected: the 65-year-old keeps them waiting for hours until she finally comes on stage.
Madonna put her fans on her current "Celebration" tour in New York to a tough test of patience. The Queen of Pop only took to the stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday evening two and a half hours after the announced start of the concert.
Fans had been waiting four months for this concert. Due to the bacterial infection that forced Madonna into intensive care in June, the dates had been postponed.
The concert was originally due to start at 8.30pm. However, Madonna only appeared at around 11.00 pm. According to the US portal "Page Six", one angry fan wrote on X: "I don't give a shit that you're Madonna. If you're three hours late, you're just fucking rude." Another comment reads: "What Madonna does to her fans is atrocious."
Technical difficulties?
One concert guest even reported that everyone around him had left after two hours: "The unpleasant feeling is clear and in the air ... Two hours now and no sign of her. We all love Madonna, but ..." Another fan complains: "Nobody cares about a DJ who plays house music for hours and wastes the fans' time!"
However, it is not unusual for Madonna to keep her fans waiting: the 65-year-old also started her concert at the sold-out Lanxess Arena in Cologne an hour and a half late in November. In 2020, when Madonna was on the road with her "Madame X" tour, she even kept fans in Paris waiting for three and a half hours. And in 2016, she started three concerts of her "Rebel Heart" tour in the same week hours late.
Madonna and her team often cite technical difficulties as an explanation. An insider told "Page Six" that Madonna also had some problems during the sound check this time, but that they "only" caused an hour's delay.
"Hammer show"
However, Madonna was able to reconcile her fans with her show, as further comments on social media show. "Yes, she was late, but she put on a great show," was the verdict of one follower.
One highlight of the concert in New York was provided by a special Madonna double, as can be seen in numerous videos on social media: actress Julia Garner, who is to play the role of the pop star in an upcoming biopic, acted as a judge together with Madonna during a "Vogue" performance by the dancers.

Despite the technical difficulties, Madonna's fans in New York still enjoyed the "Celebration" tour's performance, overlooking the long wait. The pop icon even invited actress Julia Garner, who will portray her in an upcoming biopic, to join her for a "Vogue" performance during the show.
Madonna's love for music transcends various genres, as evident in her inclusion of pop music and house music in her concerts. This music passion is shared by her fans, who expressed their frustration over the extended wait times but ultimately appreciated the entertaining performances.
