Oliver Pocher about Ex Amira - I am for, that she changes her names again
Oliver Pocher (46) wishes that his ex-wife Amira Pocher (31), now with "taff"-moderator Christian Düren (34) as her new partner, would adopt her original surname Aly again. He shared this in the latest episode of his podcast "Die Pochers! Frisch recycelt" (exclusively at Podimo) on July 19th.
Since Amira has now found a new partner in Christian Düren, the comedian is "basically for it, that she changes her name back to her original name," he told his ex-wife Alessandra Meyer-Wołden (41), his co-podcaster. However, he admitted that "it's always an awkward discussion with many women." Meyer-Wołden then asked directly: "Why is it so important to you?"
The Pocher name "is naturally a brand"
His answer: "Because fundamentally, all women come with the argument: 'I want to be named like my children.' That's always the standard argument. But you're not named like our children with surnames. We're being honest, the surname is what makes it interesting for everyone, because it's obviously also a brand."
The name Pocher is "naturally something different than the name Aly," he explained. "That's why Cathy Hummels is Cathy Hummels and not Cathy Fischer. The same goes for Barbara Becker (57) and Natascha Ochsenknecht (59)."
Alessandra Meyer-Wołden: "I wanted to make it clear"
For ex-wife Alessandra Meyer-Wołden, it was not an issue after the divorce in 2014 to adopt her old surname again, even though their children still carry the name Pocher. She had no intention of discussing it with Oliver Pocher. "That's still my free choice. Why should I continue to carry your name? I wanted to make it clear. I find it interesting that some women struggle with that."
He hopes in the future to "appreciate Amira's reason," but also emphasized that he wishes her well - even without his "renowned" surname.
- During the podcast episode, Oliver Pocher expressed his desire for Amira Pocher to revert to her original surname Aly, as her new partner is Christian Düren.
- Oliver discussed this matter with his ex-wife Alessandra Meyer-Wołden, suggesting that it would be better for Amira to regain her original surname due to the brand value associated with the Pocher name.
- Alessandra, however, maintained that she had no intention of adopting her ex-husband's surname again after their divorce in 2014, finding it intriguing that some women struggle with this.
- In a parallel instance, Cathy Hummels and Barbara Becker are known by their own surnames, just as Amira should be named Amira Aly instead of Amira Pocher, according to Oliver's perspective.
- In the podcast, Oliver mentioned that women often argue for preserving their children's surnames but fail to understand the importance of maintaining their own brand names, such as the Pocher name.
- Despite his feelings regarding Amira's surname, Oliver expressed his desire to appreciate Amira's reasons and wished her well, regardless of whether she decides to retain her "renowned" surname or not.
