Lothar Matthäus notably mentioned. - Humorous jab at Uli Hoeneß in video

Lothar Matthäus, a world-renowned footballer with numerous achievements, is currently starring in an unconventional role in a TV commercial for the energy drink brand "Kong Strong" by the discount store Lidl. In a scene reminiscent of "4 Blocks," he convincingly portrays a vulnerable victim who was previously abducted by three sinister influences from the underworld.

In the spot, Matthäus is depicted as both a captive and a hostage, tied up in a car and then transported to the warehouse of a crime boss. The henchmen of the villainous leader display their catch with pride, only to realize that they had the wrong person - they were sent to nab the actual Lothar Matthäus, but he was never their target. Instead, they were on a mission to recover a can of energy drink bearing Matthäus's image, which was the only one missing from the boss's seemingly complete collection.

Matthäus humorously references his feud with Uli Hoeneß

Somewhat surprised by his unfortunate circumstances, Matthäus can hardly believe his predicament and utters a potential cause for it. When the offending adhesive tape is removed from his mouth, he exempts a possible reason: "Did Uli send you?" With this, he humorously alludes to his long-standing, actual conflict with Bayern president Uli Hoeneß. Matthäus and Hoeneß frequently clashed in public forums. An infamous remark from Hoeneß even claimed that Matthäus wouldn't even make the cut as a greenskeeper under his leadership at the Allianz Arena.

The "4 Cans" spot is part of a campaign promoting the "Legend Doses" of "Kong Strong," featuring a total of five German football icons - Gerd Müller, Paul Breitner, Miroslav Klose, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and, as previously mentioned, Matthäus. 2
