Hugh Jackman consumes 6000 calories daily

A Superhero Needs Bulky Muscles. That's why actor Hugh Jackman went through a strict diet and training regimen for his role in the film "Deadpool & Wolverine". The 55-year-old had to acknowledge: It was all (a bit) better earlier.

For his return as Comic-Character Wolverine in the action comedy "Deadpool & Wolverine", Hugh Jackman consumed around 6000 calories daily and underwent intense strength training. However, joy and sorrow were close together during film preparations, as the Australian actor explains. "A part of me complained, another part loved it. I like the strictness. I like the discipline it brings. It's even good for my mind. I like having a goal."

Jackman has been slipping into the role of the Marvel character Wolverine since the year 2000 in the "X-Men" films. In 2017, the film "Logan - The Wolverine" about the muscular Comic-Hero with the legendary claws hit the cinemas, marking the supposed last film about the character. But for "Deadpool & Wolverine", Jackman revives his legendary role once more. Ryan Reynolds appears as Deadpool at his side. "The Crown"-Star Emma Corrin embodies her adversary Cassandra Nova.

At 55, training becomes more difficult

Jackman wanted to bring his very fit form from the year 2017 back for this film. "Basically, it's a good thing to say at the age of 55 that one has to be as healthy, fit, and strong as possible", explains the actor. But eight years later, the training was not quite as easy. "Was it harder? Yes, it was harder than ever before", so Jackman.

When asked if the rigorous program occasionally spoiled his mood and if he didn't just feel like giving up the hard training, he jokes: "I'm an actor. I complained the whole time."

Despite facing challenges at 55, Hugh Jackman continued his rigorous training for the role in "Deadpool & Wolverine", just like how Ryan Reynolds often portrays his character Deadpool in Hollywood's action movies. Jackman's dedication to his fitness goal was evident, even in the entertainment industry where such commitment is highly valued.

This isn't Jackman's first time playing the iconic Marvel character Wolverine, having started in the early 2000s with "X-Men" films. His return to the role in "Deadpool & Wolverine" showcases his enduring love for the character and the entertainment industry, proving that age is just a number when passion and determination are present.
