How Jennifer Aniston experienced Matthew Perry
The series "Friends" made them both stars: Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry. But while she hit the big time afterwards, he struggled with his alcohol and drug addiction. When Perry died in September, however, he was healthy and happy, Aniston now describes her last impressions of him.
According to Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry was doing well in the last few days before his death. In an interview with the US industry portal "Variety", the actress now talks in detail about the loss of her "Friends" co-star. The actor died on October 28 at the age of 54. Aniston emphasizes that Perry "had no problems".
"He was happy. He was healthy. He had stopped smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy - that's all I know," says the 54-year-old, describing the impressions she had of her colleague before Perry's death. She wrote to him on the morning of October 28: "He wasn't in any pain. He had no problems. He was happy."
People should know that Perry had been "really healthy" and had goals in mind, Aniston continued. "I miss him a lot. We all do. Boy, he really made us laugh," she adds.
"Loved like he never thought he would"
Aniston also talks about the huge outpouring of sympathy for Perry's death. The support from the Hollywood community has been "so beautiful", she explains. "I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he would be," Aniston says.
Matthew Perry, who had repeatedly struggled with massive alcohol and drug problems in the past, was found dead in his home in Los Angeles at the end of October. According to media reports, nothing suspicious was discovered at the scene and there were no signs of any outside involvement. An autopsy has been completed, but the results of a toxicology report are still pending. The actor was buried on November 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry starred together in the US sitcom "Friends" from 1994 to 2004. The series developed into a hit format and made Aniston in particular a world-famous Hollywood star.
