Actor and yoga instructor Obi Ndefo, famous for his part in "Dawson's Creek," has passed away at the age of 51. His sister revealed this news on Facebook. In 2019, a tragic incident led to the actor losing both his legs.

Ndefo made appearances in shows like "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) and "Stargate SG-1" (1997). However, his most recognized role was that of Bodie Wells in "Dawson's Creek," which he played from 1998 to 2002.

His sister is "heartbroken"

Ndefo's younger sibling, Nkem Ndefo, announced his untimely death on Facebook on August 31, without disclosing the cause. In her post, she expressed her heartbreak and mentioned that her brother had found peace. She shared a photo of the two of them together.

"You were and will always be a beacon of light"

Actress Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gale Leery, Dawson's mother in the series, paid tribute to Ndefo on Instagram. She stated, "It's hard to believe you're gone, dear friend. You were and will always be a beacon of light. Your resilience and love in the face of life's challenges will be an inspiration." She cherished the shared moments of love and support between them over the years. She tagged some of the series' stars, including Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and James Van Der Beek. Under the hashtag "TV family" and "friends forever," she expressed her sentiments.

Humes shared a snippet of behind-the-scenes footage from the successful series' set, where Ndefo is seen being embraced by Katie Holmes during a rehearsal and joking with James Van Der Beek outdoors.

Hit by an SUV

On August 17, 2019, while returning to his car after shopping in Los Angeles, Ndefo was involved in an unfortunate incident. An SUV struck him, resulting in the severance of his right leg, and his left leg required amputation. In an interview with the "Los Angeles Times" the following year, he commented, "What happened to me is just so unfortunate. Why would I make it worse by feeling bad about it?" He accepted his circumstances.

Over $200,000 was raised in a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses of prosthetic legs and the barrier-free renovation of his Silver Lake home.

Despite his tragic accident in 2019, resulting in the loss of both his legs after being hit by an SUV, Obi Ndefo continued to make appearances in popular science fiction shows like "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Stargate SG-1."

Remembering Ndefo's time on "Dawson's Creek," Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gale Leery, shared a touching tribute on Instagram, calling him a "beacon of light" and expressing her gratitude for their shared moments. She referred to their television family and friendship, ending her post using the hashtags "#TVfamily" and "#friendsforever."
