Mourning Shannen Doherty - Holly Marie Combs loses loyal supporter

In the TV series "Charmed - Magical Sisters," they were siblings in real life as well, and Shannen Doherty (1971-2024) was like a sister to Holly Marie Combs (50) for Shannen. The actress writes in a longer post on Instagram, mourning her recently deceased colleague.

With several pictures of the two from the past years, Combs explains that Doherty had been her "better half" for 31 years. There's a hollow space in her chest now and she barely comes to breathe: "A part of me is missing, even though I know exactly what you would say to me now. [...] I know that your immortal spirit will live on in me and my children, who you loved like your own. Your pride and truthfulness will live on in them, and they will fight for what is right without regard for losses. Your fire will live on in the children. Doherty was an unyielding fighter until the end, and my most loyal supporter. My best friend. The departed one taught me the meaning of family. You were and will always be for me, my sister, forever and ever. I love you."

In a second post, Combs publishes many more pictures of the two in a clip. She writes: "The heavens have become a little louder. You know where I will wait."

Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13, at the age of 53, after a long battle with cancer. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star to the US magazine "People" in a statement. She lost her fight with cancer on Saturday.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2015. In between, she was considered cancer-free, but in 2017, breast cancer returned in the fourth stage. In 2020, she spoke about her breast cancer being advanced and incurable. In June 2023, she announced that she had metastases in her brain. At the end of 2023, she revealed that her bones were also affected by the cancer.

Holly Marie Combs expressed her grief on Instagram, sharing heartfelt words about losing her sister-like figure and co-star, Shannen Doherty. "I know that your immortal spirit will live on in me and my children," Combs wrote, acknowledging Doherty's enduring impact on her family.

Despite their professional roles as siblings in "Charmed - Magical Sisters," Combs also shared a deep personal bond with Shannen Doherty, who she referred to as her "better half" and "best friend." They had been close for over three decades, forming an unbreakable bond.

In a touching tribute, Holly Marie Combs reminisced about cherished moments with her late girlfriend, sharing numerous photos on Instagram and expressing her hope that Doherty's spirit would continue to guide her.
