Actor Holger Matthias Wilhelm is back on the TV series "Dahoam is Dahoam" after a two-and-a-half year break - and has explained the secret of his sudden departure. He had to fight a serious cancer, the 47-year-old told the Bayerischer Rundfunk web portal.

Since July 2021, he had experienced an endless series of grueling treatments, Wilhelm recalled: "They were tough months, but with the support of my family, my friends and a great medical and nursing team at the Regensburg Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy, I mastered the fight against leukemia. It is a great pleasure for me to return to "Dahoam is Dahoam" after such a long time and to take up the role of Gregor Brunner again."

The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation's early evening series "Dahoam is Dahoam" has been on air for 16 years and more than 3200 episodes have been broadcast to date. According to BR, an average of 443,000 people across Bavaria tune in to the stories from the fictional TV village of Lansing, and more than 660,000 across Germany.
