After his playing career, the former record scorer of the German national team took up coaching, serving as an assistant to Hansi Flick (59) at Bayern Munich and later coaching at Austrian club SCR Altach. However, Klose's tenure at SCR Altach ended in March 2023. His most recent mention in the media was in discussions to rejoin his former Italian club, Lazio Rome.
