Jason Momoa - His future as Aquaman is questionable
In a few days, Jason Momoa (44) will start a new adventure in the cinema as Aquaman. However, he apparently does not believe that he will return to the role of the superhero afterwards. The Hollywood star hints at this in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight".
A chance for Jason Momoa?
"I don't necessarily want it to be the end," explains Momoa. But he also believes that there is "not really a choice". DC Studios bosses James Gunn (57) and Peter Safran (58) are in the process of reshaping the superhero universe. They "want to start their own new thing", as the actor calls it.
Momoa is aware that he has a chance, but that the whole thing depends on the movie fans. "The truth is, if the audience loves it, then there's a possibility" that he will play Aquaman again. "But right now I'm thinking, 'It's not looking too good'."
Jason Momoa loves his role
Momoa loves the character and would like to play the superhero "for a long time to come", he says. The actor can imagine where the journey could go - even over a longer period of ten years. "If there's a place for me in their world, I'd love to be part of it," says the Hollywood star. "This is my home. Warner and DC are definitely my home. That's all I'm going to say."
Before Gunn and Safran start thinking about a possible sequel, they will probably wait and see how well "Aquaman: Lost Kingdom" is received. The new film by director James Wan (46) opens in cinemas in Germany on December 21. However, if you look at the box office results of its predecessor "Aquaman" from 2018, Momoa may have no reason to worry. The DC adaptation raked in more than 1.1 billion US dollars at the box office.

After expressing uncertainty about returning to the role of Aquaman, Jason Momoa mentions a potential interview with "Entertainment Tonight" where he discusses his future in the role. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the DC Studios bosses, are reshaping the superhero universe and may have different plans for the future of the Aquaman series. Momoa acknowledges that the fate of his Aquaman character depends on the audience's reaction to the upcoming movie "Aquaman: Lost Kingdom."
