Justin Timberlake (43) is accused of driving under the influence. During a hearing in a U.S. court, the singer has pleaded "not guilty," according to several U.S. media outlets. Although Timberlake has not been convicted yet, he must surrender his driver's license in New York. The 43-year-old's driver's license has been temporarily revoked by the state. According to "CNN," this is a standard procedure in such cases.

What is alleged to have happened?

Timberlake's lawyer has once again emphasized that his client was not drunk during an arrest in June. The singer was arrested a few weeks ago after allegedly driving a BMW while intoxicated. According to a police statement, he failed to stop at a stop sign and was unable to maintain his lane. Timberlake is said to have spoken slowly and appeared unsteady on his feet. He told police he had consumed "one martini."

"Justin Timberlake was not drunk"

"He was not drunk. I say it again. Justin Timberlake was not drunk," Timberlake's lawyer reportedly said after another hearing in July. "And we are very confident that this charge - this criminal charge - will be dismissed." The lawyer requested the case be dismissed during the hearing. Another hearing is scheduled for August 9, which Timberlake does not have to attend. A preliminary court date is set for September 13.

Timberlake participated in the current hearing via video link as he is currently on tour in Europe. He is scheduled to perform in Munich, Cologne, and Hamburg in August and September.

The charge against Justin Timberlake for driving under the influence is being closely reported by various US media outlets. According to some US media, Timberlake's lawyer has repeatedly stated that his client was not intoxicated during the incident.
