Heinz Hoenig moves into the jungle camp
The 17th season of "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" starts in January. The first candidate has now been announced: actor Heinz Hoenig will travel to Australia in 2024. He is really keen to take part, says the 72-year-old star of "Das Boot".
Actor Heinz Hoenig is the first candidate for the 2024 RTL jungle camp. "It's a challenge and I'm keen on it," the 72-year-old told the broadcaster in an interview.
For Hoenig, who has starred in films such as "Das Boot" and "Der König von St. Pauli", the view of participating in the RTL show "Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!" has changed over time: "Jungle camp used to be about the end, that was the way it was among us," said the actor. "But that hasn't just died down, it's actually turned into the opposite," he says.
Flying with him to Australia are his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig and their sons Juliano and Jianni, aged three and one. According to his wife, the actor could shed his "rough exterior" after a while in the camp and show his emotional side. "My mom gave me permission and showed me that it's okay to cry," Hoenig explained in the RTL interview.
