Heino talks about the death of his wife

Hannelore Kramm, the wife of pop star Heino, died unexpectedly at the beginning of November. Now, for the first time, the singer talks about his loss, why he kept his wife's death a secret for a week and where he can find distraction from his grief and joy.

At the beginning of November, Heino had to say goodbye to his wife, Hannelore Kramm (1942-2023), to whom he had been married since 1979. In his first in-depth interview after the death of his wife, the 84-year-old pop singer talks about how shocking the news that Hannelore had died was for him, among other things.

"Of course I'm more than sad," says Heino in an interview with Bild am Sonntag. According to him, it will be a long time before he "returns to normal form - if ever. A part of me died with Hannelore." The singer continues: "I miss everything about Hannelore, her kindness and her quirks." He has "only fond memories" of his wife.

Heino had spoken to Hannelore on the phone that morning and she was "doing wonderfully". At the time, he was in Berlin for a TV recording. A little later, the 81-year-old called his manager, Helmut Werner, and said that she was not feeling well. He called the emergency services.

Heino and his manager broke off and got into the car, but on the way Werner received another call: "He suddenly had tears running down his face. I was paralyzed and asked: Has Hannelore died? I already knew the answer then." At first, however, the singer didn't realize the bad news because he was in shock. The pain only came "when I realized that Hannelore was no longer there".

"I wanted to have this moment of farewell all to myself"

"It is with great pain that we have to inform you that Heino's beloved wife Hannelore has fallen asleep peacefully at home in Kitzbühel forever," has been written on Heino's website since November 15. He is "in great mourning and misses his Hannelore every moment". Shortly beforehand, the media had reported that Kramm had already died on November 8 at the age of 81.

The singer went on to explain why he had not initially announced that his wife was no longer alive: "I wanted to bury Hannelore in peace and quiet. I wanted to have this moment of farewell all to myself." There were only a few people at the funeral, he said, and he couldn't get through it any other way.

Heino now wanted to stay with his manager and his wife, Nicole Miet, who took good care of him. At home in Kitzbühel, he would be "all alone and wandering around the house. I wouldn't know what to do with all the memories." Little Lennie - Werner and Mieth's son, whose birth was announced by the former "Verbotene Liebe" actress and Heino's manager in September - provides distraction and much joy.

Heino found solace in the world of pop music during his grief, often listening to his favorite tunes that brought back happy memories of his wife. Despite the tragic event, he continued to find joy in the soothing sounds of pop music, which served as a comforting reminder of their shared love for entertainment.

In an effort to honor his wife's memory, Heino has been focusing on charity work in the entertainment industry, supporting organizations that promote artists who have faced difficulties or losses in their lives, much like he had with Hannelore's passing.
