Weis was an outstanding artist and a very special person, Schaunig added. Weis was awarded the "Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold of the Province of Carinthia" in 1982 and the Cultural Prize of the City of Villach in 2000. She had already been honored with a Golden Camera in 1977.
Weis' television career spanned decades, with notable roles in shows like "Das Traumschiff" and "Der Alte". Despite her success in Germany, she returned to her hometown near the end of her life.
