For the first time since his serious illness in April 2023: Jamie Foxx (55) makes his return to the public eye. The Oscar winner made a surprise appearance on stage at a Critics Choice Association awards ceremony on Monday. At the Celebration of Black Cinema Awards, he was presented with an award for the Amazon film "War of the Undertakers".
Six months ago, he couldn't even walk, Jamie Foxx revealed at the beginning of his acceptance speech published on X (formerly Twitter) . He wouldn't wish what he had gone through on even his worst enemy: "It's hard when it's almost over". He had "seen the tunnel", Foxx said. He didn't see the light at the time.
"I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art," the actor said on stage. During his recovery phase, he watched a lot of films and listened to a lot of music to make the time pass more quickly.

In July, he addressed his fans for the first time in a video. "I've been through hell and back", he said in tears. His sister Deidra Dixon and his daughter Corinne (29) had saved his life.
