Alec Baldwin - He celebrated the final process ending
Alec Baldwin will not be charged criminally for the fatal shooting on the "Rust" set. After the Santa Fe, New Mexico court finally ended the trial due to a procedural error by the prosecution, Baldwin celebrated his success well into the Friday evening.
According to celebrity portal "TMZ", a small group gathered around Alec, his wife Hilaria Baldwin (40), their daughters Carmen (11) and Ilaria (1), as well as lawyers Alex Spiro and Luke Niklas at the Eldorado Hotel bar in Santa Fe.
A film team currently producing a documentary about the "Rust" tragedy was also present. The report states that no cameras were running during the intimate gathering, not even for the separate TLC reality show "The Baldwins". Additionally, according to media reports, his brothers Stephen (58) and Beth (68) were also present. After a few hours at the bar, around 8 pm, Alec then went back to his hotel room and later went to the nearby Mexican restaurant Casa Chimayo with his family for dinner.
A judge had decided a few hours earlier that the prosecution had unlawfully withheld evidence from the Baldwin defense. This left only one possible reaction from the court: the immediate termination of the case. Baldwin cannot therefore be held responsible for the fatal shooting in any new criminal proceedings. He faced up to 18 months in prison. However, possible civil lawsuits are excluded from this.
Armorer from "Rust" set went to prison
The authorities had withheld a statement from Baldwin's lawyers regarding a loaded bullet that may have come from Baldwin's gun. The withholding of this evidence significantly harmed the defendant, according to the judge in her argument.
In October 2021, the 42-year-old Ukrainian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins (1979-2021) was fatally shot on the "Rust" set with a bullet from a gun held by Baldwin. The person in charge of weapons on the set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (27), was sentenced to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter in April. It is still unclear why the gun was loaded with live ammunition.
