HBO is seeking performers to portray the characters Ron, Hermione, and Harry.
The captivating tale of Harry Potter and his companions Ron and Hermione has captured the hearts of many. Soon, these stories will be brought to life on the big screen once more with US network HBO taking the helm. The hunt for the fresh faces to inherit the magical world is in full swing, with the casting process for a brand new series extending until Halloween.
According to "Variety" magazine, aspiring actors have until October 31 to submit their applications. The magazine has also shed light on the necessary conditions for the audition process.
Interestingly, this information was unknowingly disclosed to the public on a Monday. HBO verified its authenticity to "Variety" magazine.
For this upcoming production, HBO is on the lookout for children aged between 9 and 11 years as of April 2025. The casting call also embraces diversity, welcoming candidates of all ethnicities and genders. The announcement states, "We are devoted to a diverse and inclusive casting process. We encourage you to submit for each role, regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected characteristics."
Potter's German Audition Challenge
German aspiring Potters, Hermiones, and Rons have reason to be excited, but with a catch. The future stars of the magical world must reside in the UK or Ireland. Becoming a British or Irish citizen in time may be tricky. However, as history has shown through J.K. Rowling's novels, nothing is impossible. To submit for the role, young actors are required to submit two brief self-introduction videos.
The casting guidelines specify that candidates should include details such as their date of birth, height, and place of residence. They are also required to describe a significant family member, friend, or pet.
Application Submission by October 31
The deadline for submission is set for October 31. The series is planned to be filmed in the UK in 2025 and 2026 and will span across seven seasons, each adapting a novel from J.K. Rowling's legendary series. An official release date has yet to be announced. Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod have been appointed as executive producers and directors for the series.
The Harry Potter novels have sold over 600 million copies worldwide. Between 2001 and 2011, they were adapted into films, starring Daniel Radcliffe as the leading character. The films grossed a staggering €7.2 billion.
I'm not interested in relocating to the UK or Ireland to audition, so I won't be submitting my application. Despite the deadline being on October 31, I'm not going to send in my self-introduction videos.
