Farewell - "Hart aber fair" "audience advocate" Brigitte Büscher leaves

The ARD talk show "Hart aber fair" will have to do without Brigitte Büscher in future. The "audience advocate" said goodbye to the TV audience on Monday evening: "I was happy to bring a bit of reality to the show so that we could discuss it here together. But now I have decided, after - attention! - 23 years: It's over for me, I'm going to start something new, go on new paths. And as they say? All the best, all the love. And we'll see what happens in 2024."

It was important to her that she was still able to say goodbye to her viewers, said Büscher, who read out audience reactions and took street polls during the show. "You could call us, you could send faxes, then there was the guestbook, social media. And I always found your opinion particularly beneficial when you discussed it with respect. When you packaged encouragement and contradiction well. When you discussed with an open mind," said the reporter, addressing the audience.

"Of course, there are also viewers who simply sat on the sofa," Büscher continued. "I think that's absolutely legitimate too, of course. I wasn't happy about the hatred or the incitement. And you all know that this has increased a lot in recent years. That makes it difficult to deal with people's opinions, although of course you have to. I enjoyed working as a reporter."

Büscher's departure coincides with the change of production company for"Hart aber fair". The company Ansager & Schnipselmann, owned by Jürgen Schulte and long-time "Hart aber fair" presenter Frank Plasberg, will no longer be on board from next year. From the end of January, host Louis Klamroth will produce the Monday talk show himself with the company Florida Factual. "Hart aber fair" is a production for WDR television.

Westdeutscher Rundfunk paid tribute to Bücher's achievements: "Brigitte Büscher has shaped and developed "Hart aber fair" for more than 20 years. The editorial team and WDR are very grateful to her for this. She has now decided to leave "hart aber fair" and take on new projects. We are pleased that Brigitte Büscher will continue to work for WDR, among other things as a film author," a WDR spokesperson said in response to a dpa inquiry. "We are currently developing the "Hart aber fair" format further and are in the middle of the process. Viewers will be able to see the changes for themselves in the next show on January 29, 2024."
