Harry and Meghan are not welcome at this wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan are repeatedly in the headlines, which have already caused a family rift. The Duke of Westminster and Prince Archie's godfather is now said to have drawn a conclusion. He is not inviting Harry to his wedding - but his brother William is.

After the book "Endgame" by author Omid Scobie, which deals with the alleged power struggles within the British royal family, made headlines, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are once again at the center of attention. They are now said not to have received an invitation to the aristocratic wedding of the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, and his fiancée Olivia Henson, as the Sunday Times reports, citing insider sources. The wedding next June is regarded as the social event of the year in the UK.

Grosvenor, who is said to be close to both Harry and his brother Prince William, is one of the richest men in the UK. A spokesperson for the Duke of Westminster said of the rumors surrounding Meghan and Harry, according to the Daily Mail: "We are not in a position to comment on the guest list." Heir to the throne William and Princess Kate, however, are expected to attend the ceremony along with King Charles III and Queen Camilla, according to the Sunday Times.

Grosvenor is said to have made the decision not to invite the Sussexes with a heavy heart. The 30-year-old is not only godfather to William and Kate's ten-year-old son Prince George, but also to Harry and Meghan's four-year-old son Prince Archie, as the Sunday Times reported. Grosvenor himself is a godson of Charles - his mother, Natalia Grosvenor, is godmother to Prince William. According to reports, the groom wants to avoid a clash between the allegedly estranged brothers William and Harry at his wedding.

"It's incredibly sad that it has come to this. Hugh is one of the few close friends of William and Harry who maintains a strong friendship and close communication with both of them," a friend of William and Harry told the Sunday Times. He added: "He wishes they could get together and sort things out, but is aware that is unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and he doesn't want any awkwardness."

Grosvenor, who runs an investment and real estate group, became Duke of Westminster after the death of his father Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor in 2016. Not only is his family said to be one of the richest in the UK, they are also known for their charitable work. The wedding is due to take place on June 7 at Chester Cathedral in the northwest of England.

Allegations from Oprah interview reignited

The news about the lack of an invitation comes a few days after the publication of a royal tell-all book by Omid Scobie. In it, Harry and Meghan's accusations against the British royal family, which they made in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, that there had been speculation about the color of their then unborn son's skin, were reignited. In one version, the names of the royals who were said to have commented on Prince Archie's skin color at the time were inadvertently printed. The publisher subsequently recalled the books.

According to consistent reports from major British media such as the BBC and the Guardian, the two people named in the book are King Charles and Princess Kate. It initially remained unclear why the names could only be read in the Dutch version of the book "Endgame". Author Scobie asserted that he had not submitted a book containing the names. However, the Dutch translators also insisted that they had not added anything.

Despite the ongoing rift within the British royal family, which was further intensified by the book "Endgame" by Omid Scobie, the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, is reportedly set to have a grand wedding next June. This social event of the year in the UK is expected to be graced by Prince William and his wife Kate, as well as King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Unfortunately, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are not invited due to the family tensions, according to the Sunday Times. Grosvenor, who is close to both Harry and William, is reportedly godfather to both William's son Prince George and Harry's son Prince Archie. Despite the decision not to invite the Sussexes, Grosvenor and his fiancée Olivia Henson's wedding is set to take place at Chester Cathedral in the northwest of England.
