Hamas vice president killed in explosion in Beirut
There has been an explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to police sources, it occurred in a southern part of the city where the Shiite Hezbollah militia is particularly strongly represented. Lebanese state media are talking about an Israeli drone attack on a Hamas office. "Four people were martyred and several others were injured when the Hamas office was targeted," reported the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).
The deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, Saleh al-Aruri, is said to be among the victims. A high-ranking security representative told the AFP news agency. Shortly afterwards, the Hamas TV station reported the "assassination" of al-Aruri.

He was considered the terrorist organization's number two and an important figure in the organization of attacks against Israel in the West Bank. According to Israeli media reports, Al-Aruri was due to meet with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah tomorrow.
Likud MP and former diplomat Danny Danon congratulated the Israeli military (IDF) and security forces on the murder of Saleh Al-Arouri on X and wrote: "I congratulate the IDF, the Shin Bet, the Mossad and the security forces on the killing of senior Hamas official Saleh Al-Aruori in Beirut. Everyone involved in the October 7 massacre should know that we will get even with him."
