After dispute over Dua Lipa's villa - Green light for construction work after all

Can Dua Lipa (28) finally start swimming in the pool of her dreams soon? In December 2021, the singer presented plans for expanding her London villa to the local building authority. She intended to build an XL spa area with pool, sauna, shower, relaxation room, cinema, and music studio in the basement. However, large-scale renovation works called for intervention from the city administration and nature conservationists. After a three-year dispute, the singer's project is now being implemented.

According to British newspaper "The Sun," images of the property show that the villa has been completely gutted, and excavation work has begun around the house. Dua Lipa could move in soon - she bought the house in London's north in 2020 for around 8 million Euro but has not yet lived there.

Strict regulations for nature and noise

As reported by the newspaper, Dua Lipa received the long-awaited permits from the council in March. However, she must adhere to strict regulations during the renovation. To counteract the concerns of nature conservationists regarding the loss of green spaces, she must construct a rooftop garden on the extension to create a new habitat for local wildlife.

Moreover, the noise level at the construction site must be reduced to a minimum and be "at least ten decibels below the typical background noise level." All construction machinery must be equipped with "vibration isolators" for noise reduction to avoid disturbing neighbors. Lipa even had to provide a report certifying that the pool machine room would not exceed 28 decibels in volume. This is roughly equivalent to the noise level of a quiet whisper (25 decibels).

"Plans for the house are epic"

A source confirmed to "The Sun" that the project could finally begin. "Dua's plans for her house are epic, and after four years, she has finally started looking for builders to begin the work," they explained. The popstar is making efforts not to disturb her neighbors with the creation of her dream home. "Dua doesn't want to cause any trouble and is excited to make her house a home," the source added.

After the dispute over Dua Lipa's villa, stringent regulations were imposed by the council, requiring the construction worker to install noise reduction features such as vibration isolators and ensure the pool machine room doesn't exceed a specific decibel level. Despite these challenges, Dua Lipa, the renowned singer, can now move into her London house, which she purchased in 2020, as the construction work progresses on her dream spa area, music studio, and cinema.
