It was only in mid-December that Micucci also announced via TikTok that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. In this first video about her diagnosis, she reported that she had already undergone an operation and the tumor had been removed. The diagnosis came as a "surprise" to her: "It's really strange because I've never smoked a cigarette in my life."

She later replied to a fan in one of the many comments who wanted to know how she had come to suspect cancer. Her CRP value had been massively elevated in a blood test. A doctor then wanted to examine her heart and discovered a spot in her lung.
Kate Micucci is best known to series fans as Lucy, the girlfriend of main character Rajesh (Kunal Nayyar, 42), in several episodes of the sixth and seventh seasons of"The Big Bang Theory".
