German administration opposes NATO's role in Ukraine's air defense.
The German government has dismissed the idea of NATO's participation in defending Ukraine's airspace.
Official spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit pointed out that past discussions on no-fly zones with Western assistance in Ukraine were already turned down. The same applies to the current proposals being made.
As per media reports, politicians from the CDU, FDP, and Greens have expressed support for establishing a protection zone in Ukrainian airspace that could even be secured from NATO-controlled territories.
Hebestreit emphasized that the priority now is fortifying Ukraine's air defense. Germany is contributing to this cause by supplying another Patriot defense system. "We should focus on this first," he added.

The Russian government has been accused of initiating a war of aggression against Ukraine, which has led to calls for increased NATO involvement in Ukraine's air defense. Despite this, the German Federal Government has firmly opposed any NATO participation in Ukraine's air defense, citing past rejections of no-fly zone proposals. Germany, however, is actively supporting Ukraine's air defense by providing additional Patriot defense systems.
