Gérard Depardieu flies out of the wax museum
The French wax museum in Paris will have to make do without the likeness of star actor Gérard Depardieu in future. This was triggered by a documentary film in which the 74-year-old can be seen making vulgar comments on a filming trip to North Korea.
First the Legion of Honor, now the statue in the Paris wax museum: the star of French star actor Gérard Depardieu, who has been confronted with allegations of rape and assault, is in a rapid decline. Depardieu's wax figure has been removed from the exhibition due to the "negative reactions of visitors", the Musée Grévin in Paris announced.
A few days ago, French Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak described Depardieu's behavior as a "disgrace to France" and initiated his expulsion from the Legion of Honor. Depardieu then announced that he wanted to give up the title voluntarily. In an open letter, his family lamented an "unprecedented conspiracy" and "collective anger" against Depardieu.
The latest sanctions were triggered by a documentary in which Depardieu can be seen making numerous vulgar and sexist comments during a filming trip to North Korea. "I weigh 124 kilos, with an erection 126", he says to his translator, for example. He says about a girl on a horse: "When she gallops, she has an orgasm."
Depardieu rejects all accusations
Depardieu has been under investigation for rape allegations since the end of 2020. The actress Charlotte Arnould accuses the actor of raping her twice in his Paris apartment in 2018. At the beginning of December, actress Hélène Darras also accused him of sexual assault during filming in 2007.
Numerous other women have accused Depardieu of sexual assault in the past, but have not yet pressed charges. Depardieu, who turns 75 on December 27, rejects all accusations. Depardieu is one of the most famous French actors. He has worked with the most important directors and actresses in France and has appeared in more than 200 films. In them, he has played the eloquent Cyrano de Bergerac as well as a washed-up pop singer, a slaughterhouse worker, an Alzheimer's patient and Obelix.

The removal of Gérard Depardieu's wax figure from the Paris wax museum has led to a significant loss in entertainment for visitors. Despite the scandal surrounding his vulgar comments in a North Korean documentary, Depardieu remains a beloved figure in French cinema, known for his diverse roles in movies like "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "Obelix."
