George Clooney is going to score against Quentin Tarantino.

George Clooney is going to score against Quentin Tarantino.

They once worked together on "From Dusk Till Dawn". But the relationship between George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino has been strained since the cult director publicly ridiculed the actor. Now, Clooney strikes back verbally.

George Clooney is considered one of the sharpest guys in Hollywood. But he can also be different, as he proved in a joint interview with his buddy Brad Pitt for "GQ" magazine. When the conversation turned to Quentin Tarantino, Clooney couldn't resist taking a jab at the cult director, who had recently made some unflattering remarks about him.

"Quentin said something about me recently, and it kind of threw me off," Clooney said, referring to the filmmaker. Tarantino had been talking about several film stars, including Pitt, but then someone asked, "What about George?" Clooney was not pleased with Tarantino's response: "He said, 'He's not a movie star.' And then he literally said something like, 'Name one of his movies since the millennium.' And I thought, 'Since the millennium? That's pretty much my entire fucking career!'"

When Pitt laughed at the anecdote, Clooney jokingly added, "Now I think, 'Okay, man, fuck off.'" But then he softened: "But no, we're really lucky to have worked with these great directors. Directing and writing are what keep you alive. And I learned that after making some really bad movies. You can't make a good movie out of a bad script."

"It's not worth it"

Indeed, Clooney's career, which began in the '80s, has lasted longer after the millennium than before. He and Tarantino had already worked together in 1996. Tarantino not only wrote the script for the zombie flick "From Dusk Till Dawn" directed by Robert Rodriguez, but also acted in it alongside Clooney. Brad Pitt has even worked with Tarantino multiple times, appearing in "Inglourious Basterds" (2009) and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (2019).

In the "GQ" interview, Clooney also talks about another director. In 1999, he collaborated with David O. Russell on the satirical and critically acclaimed war film "Three Kings". It was known that there were conflicts on set. Referring to this, Clooney now says he only wants to work with people who enjoy what they do.

The 63-year-old adds, "As you get older, how you spend your time becomes more important. Five months of your life is a lot. It's not just about making a really good movie like 'Three Kings' and then having a miserable ass like David O. Russell making everyone's life hell on set, including mine. It's not worth it. Not at this point in my life. Just to have a good product."

George Clooney's comments about Quentin Tarantino during the "GQ" interview sparked some heated remarks. Despite their past collaboration on "From Dusk Till Dawn", Tarantino's public critique seemed to have affected their relationship.

In response to Tarantino's comments about his career since the millennium, Clooney retorted, "That's pretty much my entire fucking career!" This interaction highlights the ongoing tension between these two Hollywood heavyweights.
