FSB nabs individual for treason charges.
The Russian intelligence agency FSB frequently accuses individuals of treason and sabotage. A man has been taken into custody in Nizhny Novgorod for allegedly aiding the Ukrainian military financially.
A former Yandex employee is accused of assisting the Ukrainian army and is currently being held by the Russian secret service FSB. High treason is the charge being leveled against him.
He allegedly transferred money to an account belonging to a Ukrainian foundation. This fund was used to purchase "armored vehicles, ammunition, equipment, and medicines for the Ukrainian military." The man was apprehended roughly 400 kilometers east of Moscow in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Reports also suggest that he had traveled overseas for a short period during the fall of 2022 when Russia announced a partial mobilization during its conflict against Ukraine. Upon his return to Russia, he was captured.
