The EM-clash between Denmark and England was a spectacle none of the country's royal representatives could ignore, namely Prince William and King Frederik X of Denmark.

Thursday night witnessed the Preliminary round match Denmark vs England at the Frankfurt EM-Arena. With high stakes and a thrilling 1:1 draw, both leaders of the royal households found themselves in the stands, supporting their national teams. Despite the fierce sporting competition, the royals maintained a diplomatic composure.

In the build-up, Prince William uploaded a snapshot on Instagram featuring him, King Frederik, and his 13-year-old daughter, Princess Josephine. His caption read, "May the better team win."

Under the gaze of 47,000 fans, an enticing contest unraveled on the pitch in the "Deutsche Bank Park." The spectators, including those in the royal box, were gripped with excitement. Diplomacy temporarily took a backseat. As Harry Kane netted England's opening goal, Prince William leaped victoriously from his seat and fervently pumped his fist.

King Frederik X shared photos of himself and his daughter cheering from the stands on the official Instagram account of the Danish Royal Family. "Thanks for the exhilarating game. Great effort, Denmark," his message read.

A royal outing sans Kate and the kids

William, who turned 42 on Friday, is the head of the English Football Association FA. He attended the match solo, with his spouse, Princess Kate, who is receiving cancer treatment, and their three offspring staying behind.

Prior to the EM festivities, the British crown prince had a pre-departure gathering with the English national squad, where he offered encouragement. In a friendly chat with Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and others, he disclosed the unusual advice his youngest son Louis (6) had given the Three Lions. "I inquired of Louis this morning en route to school what suggestion I should give the English team for the EM. He said they should double their intake," admitted Prince William during his chat with Kane.

An advice that might not sit well with the English squad, as it's not conducive for optimal playing conditions.
