French city of Bourges is European Capital of Culture 2028
After Budweis and Skopje, the French city of Bourges can now also call itself the European Capital of Culture in 2028. As announced by the French Ministry of Culture, the decision was made on Wednesday.
Bourges is located almost 250 kilometers south of Paris in the Centre-Val de Loire region and has numerous sights. Bourges was the French favorite in the race for the prestigious European label along with Montpellier, Rouen and Clermont-Ferrand. The first city to win the title in France was Paris in 1989, followed by Avignon (2000), Lille (2004) and Marseille (2013). České Budějovice in the Czech Republic and Skopje in North Macedonia were named a few months ago.
