Frank Zander may leave hospital

Frank Zander is on the road to recovery. His son has announced that the cult singer has been discharged from hospital. There is hope that he will be able to take part in his legendary feeding of the homeless next Friday. Further examinations will follow in January.

All fans of cult singer Frank Zander can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being. Following his stay in hospital, the 81-year-old musician has been discharged and is currently recovering in his Charlottenburg apartment. His son Marcus Zander confirmed this in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper: "The whole family is very, very happy that he was allowed to leave the hospital." They are grateful that Frank Zander is back home and can celebrate Christmas with his family.

However, his son also made it clear: "But he's not healthy. You have to say that very clearly. You have to be honest about that. And we are being honest." Whether his father will be able to come to his famous and annual Christmas party for the homeless and needy on Friday, December 22, 2023, will have to be decided at short notice: "The chances are very good, though. So good that he will at least be able to attend the party for a moment and greet the guests from the stage."

Helpers at the Christmas party at the Hotel Estrel include the Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, senators Franziska Giffey and Iris Spranger, Neukölln's district mayor Martin Hikel, actress Simone Thomalla, singers Mitch Keller and Annemarie Eilfeld and three-time ESC winner Johnny Logan.

Weaker and weaker after corona infection

In January, however, Frank Zander had to return to the clinic for further examinations. The vitamins and restorative preparations he was given had done him "a lot of good". However, a diagnosis will not be made until the beginning of January. "We are very confident that Frank can heal completely, that he will be back to his 'old self'," Marcus continued.

The musician had to be taken to a clinic in Berlin by ambulance on 11 December. Following a coronavirus infection, his health had been getting "worse by the day", as his son Markus revealed to B.Z. shortly after he was admitted. Zander himself also gave a brief statement. He could imagine something better than being in hospital, but: "I was getting weaker and weaker."

Despite recovering from hospital, Frank Zander's health remains a concern. He was recently readmitted to a Berlin hospital for further examinations due to complications from coronaviruses. In light of his health situation, Frank Zander's annual feeding of the homeless may need to be postponed or adjusted.

The annual feeding of the homeless event, which has become a local tradition, usually invites celebrities and politicians, such as Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, senators Franziska Giffey and Iris Spranger, and actors like Simone Thomalla.

Furthermore, amidst the widespread entertainment industry and diverse TV programs in Berlin, the latest news about Frank Zander's health has brought awareness to the importance of addressing homelessness concerns, which has long been a persistent issue in the city.
