George Lazenby - Former James Bond actor goes into pension

George Lazenby (84) retired from acting and withdrew from public life. The former and once James Bond actor announced on X: "I will no longer act or make public appearances, no more interviews or sign autographs starting today." This was not an easy decision.

George Lazenby: "Getting Old Is No Fun"

It was fun, but getting old is no fun, continues the 84-year-old. Now he wants to spend more time with his family.

Lazenby played James Bond in 1969 in the film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." He succeeded Sean Connery (1930-2020) as the second 007 actor. It was his first major role and his only appearance as James Bond. Later, he was seen in the films "Man from Hong Kong" (1975) and "Gettysburg" (1993).

Controversial Performance in Perth

Recently, the actor had kept a low profile after causing a stir at a public appearance in Perth, Australia, in September 2022. Audience members complained loudly about sexist and homophobic remarks made by Lazenby, according to the "BBC." Later, he apologized on the then Twitter-known platform X.

In November 2023, he suffered a head injury after falling at his house in Los Angeles and had to be hospitalized. "Getting old is not easy," his manager wrote on X at the time.

After his controversial performance in Perth, George Lazenby decided to minimize his public appearances. Despite his retirement, James Bond's second actor still made headlines when he sustained a head injury in Los Angeles.
