Former employee of Russian internet firm Yandex detained on charges of treason.
A worker from Russia's internet giant Yandex now finds himself behind bars as authorities accuse him of aiding the Ukrainian military. On Monday, Russia's intelligence agency FSB labeled his actions a grave case of "high treason."
His alleged crime? He supposedly transferred funds to a Ukrainian foundation, with a stated purpose of financing "tanks, bullets, gadgets, and medicine for the Ukrainian military."
The suspected traitor was apprehended roughly 400 kilometers from Moscow in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Reports indicate he briefly left the country in autumn 2022 after the proclamation of a partial mobilization in relation to Russia's involvement in Ukraine. But soon enough, he was back in the Motherland.
