Ursula von der Leyen - "Forbes" once again names her the most powerful woman
The most powerful woman in the world comes from Germany again: for the second time in a row, Ursula von der Leyen (65) tops the Forbes list of the 100 most influential women in the world. The CDU politician, who has held the office of President of the European Commission since 2019, is thus once again listed ahead of famous personalities such as US Vice President Kamala Harris (59) and US pop star Taylor Swift (33) in the ranking of "The World's Most Powerful Women". "Forbes" already voted von der Leyen the most powerful woman in the world in 2022.
In second place this year is French politician Christine Lagarde (67), who has been the first female President of the European Central Bank since November 1, 2019. Kamala Harris is in third place, followed by Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (46) in fourth place and Taylor Swift in fifth place.
Beyoncé and Rihanna also on the list - surprise at number 100
Other power women selected by "Forbes" include Bill Gates' (68) ex-wife Melinda French Gates (59) in tenth place and Jeff Bezos' (59) ex-wife MacKenzie Scott (53) in 13th place. Talk show legend Oprah Winfrey (69) has made it to 31st place, closely followed by Beyoncé in 36th place. Singer and entrepreneur Rihanna (35) is in 74th place.
If you take a look at the 100th place, you are in for a surprise: it is occupied by Barbie. However, considering the criteria that are decisive for the"Forbes" ranking, the placement is not so far-fetched. Wealth, media impact, influence and reach are all taken into account.
"Barbie" is the highest-grossing film of 2023
The cult doll has triggered a veritable hype around the world thanks to this year's "Barbie" film directed by Greta Gerwig (40) and starring Margot Robbie (33) and Ryan Gosling (43). At the beginning of September, "Barbie" overtook the "Super Mario Bros. movie" at the global box office with 1.3 billion US dollars and is currently the highest-grossing film of the year. The live-action film also caused a pink explosion in fashion and department stores.
