- For eighteen years, they maintained a stretches of silence.
There was an 18-year silence between "Beverly Hills, 90210" stars Tori Spelling (51) and Brian Austin Green (51) due to their ex-partners interrupting their friendship. According to Green's podcast "Oldish", Spelling didn't attempt to maintain their friendship. He described their last conversation as "feeling like going through a divorce", which Spelling agreed with.
Green's Failed Attempts to Reach Out
"I was heartsick at the thought of losing touch since we were so close," she said. Despite Green's attempts to keep in contact, they eventually lost touch. He recalled driving to Vincent's house a few days after the show's wrap, hoping to maintain their friendship. However, Spelling was dating their co-star Vincent Young (59) at the time and didn't reciprocate his feelings.
He remembered how Spelling didn't acknowledge him at a DVD release party for the series years later, when she was married to Dean McDermott (57) and he was with Megan Fox (38). "I missed you guys, and then you were just gone," he shared. Despite his persistent attempts, he eventually gave up. "I felt like she didn't want to be friends," he admitted.
The Role of Their Ex-Partners
Spelling then explained that her strained relationship with McDermott played a part. She distanced herself because she knew he wasn't supportive of their relationship. "You had a good professional relationship with Vincent, but I don't think our personal relationship was something that was right for me," she added. She avoided people like him who would stand up for her.
Spelling wasn't a fan of Green's relationship with Vanessa Marcil (55), either. It was "frustrating" to see what was happening and not agree with how her friend was being treated, but she couldn't intervene due to "people have to make their own experiences and find their own way".
However, Spelling and Green have recently rekindled their friendship. In matters of the heart, things have changed for both: Green found love with Australian dancer Sharna Burgess (39), and they announced their engagement in June 2023. Meanwhile, Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott at the end of March.
Green reflected on their last conversation, saying, "I felt like we were going through a divorce," aligning with Spelling's sentiments. Despite their ex-partners causing strains, Spelling and Brian Austin Green have managed to rekindle their friendship, with Green now engaged to Sharna Burgess and Spelling filing for divorce from Dean McDermott.
