"GTA 6" - First official pictures coming next week
All gamers should mark December 5, 2023 thick and bold in their calendars: As Rockstar Games announced on the official X account (formerly Twitter), the first trailer for the upcoming installment of the popular Grand Theft Auto computer game series will be released next Tuesday at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. The first images of "GTA 6" will therefore be shown here in Germany at 3 pm Central European Time. The game does not yet have an official title. It is actually already the eighth main game in the series and the 16th part in total. "GTA 6" is merely a result of the consecutive numbering after the last major title "Grand Theft Auto V".
Rockstar Games put an end to the numerous speculations and rumors surrounding "GTA 6" in February 2022 when it confirmed for the first time that the game was in development and that work was progressing well. However, there is still no official release date. A leak in September 2022 led to the publication of numerous gameplay clips, with some questions at least possibly already being answered. The leaked material had unmistakable visual similarities to the 2002 title "GTA: Vice City", which was set in Miami and the surrounding area. Official details about the locations, protagonists or the story in "GTA 6" have not yet been published.
"GTA 5" developed into a huge success
The last game in the series,"Grand Theft Auto V", was originally released in September 2013 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and was set in the fictional city of Los Santos, which was modeled on the real Los Angeles in great detail. After "Minecraft", it was the second best-selling computer game to date until March 2023. In terms of sales, "GTA 5" is the highest-selling audiovisual entertainment product in the world with an estimated six billion US dollars in sales. The first part of the series was released in 1997, initially only for the PC, and later also for the PlayStation and Game Boy Color.
