Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" gets an upgrade with a unique feature: Set to follow iconic characters and actors, the first-ever superhero gets a well-deserved recognition.
Popular cartoon figures such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Snoopy have been immortalized with a star on Hollywood's renowned "Walk of Fame". Now, joining the list is none other than Batman, marking the first-ever superhero to receive an esteemed spot on this iconic avenue. A star plaque was unveiled amidst excited fans, dignitaries, and camera flashes. Suiting up in a black cape, mask, and the iconic bat symbol, a man posed proudly on the star - the 2,790th addition to the tourist mile in the heart of Hollywood.
Among the honored guests was American actor Burt Ward, who played the young sidekick Robin in the '60s TV series "Batman". Ward was herself given a star on the "Walk of Fame" in 2020. Before Ward, the Batman role was previously honored to actors like Adam West (1928 - 2017) and the creator of the celebrated comic hero, Batman artist Bob Kane (1915 - 1998).

The new Batman star stands proudly in front of the Guinness World Records museum building in Hollywood. The Guinness Book of Records once celebrated Batman as the comic book hero with the most film appearances. The enigmatic hero made his debut in the comic book "Detective Comics #27" - a staggering 85 years ago, in March 1939. Cartoon artist Bob Kane, commissioned by National Comics (later DC Comics), and writer Bill Finger, brought the bat-man character to life. Setting Batman in the dark metropolis of Gotham City, behind the black mask, lurks the multimillionaire Bruce Wayne. Traumatized by witnessing his parents' murder as a child, Bruce vowed to exact revenge on all criminals, his mythical figure in the black costume and cloak soon gaining worldwide fame through comics, TV shows, movies, toys, and video games.
