"The Crown" - Finale with all three Queen actresses

The final episodes of the royal series "The Crown" started on Netflix today, December 14, bringing it to an end after six seasons. Viewers can look forward to a special highlight in the finale: all three actresses who played Queen Elizabeth II(1926-2022) in the popular series about the British royal family can be seen together. Imelda Staunton (67) will be joined by her colleagues Olivia Colman (49) and Claire Foy (39) in the second part of the final season when all three "Queen Elizabeths" reunite.

The Queen looks back on her reign

As the trailer already revealed, Staunton's Queen Elizabeth will be confronted with versions of herself from days gone by (played by Colman and Foy). The streaming service has revealed little in advance about how the three queens will interact and the context in which their meeting will take place - but a photo shared ahead of the launch of recent episodes suggests it could be a reflective moment as the monarch looks back on her decades-long reign.

"The Crown" already made use of a trick in the first part of the finale, which was shown in November, and had Princess Diana (1961-1997) return as a "ghost" after her accidental death.

Imelda Staunton played Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth and sixth seasons, Olivia Colman was seen in the role in seasons three and four, and Claire Foy had previously played the young monarch.

Focus on events from the recent past

The second half of the final season will focus on royal events of the recent past, such as the wedding of Charles (75) and Camilla (76) in 2005 and the love story of William (42) and Kate (42).
