Fifth generation of the Niesmann Arto motorhome will be smart

More and more RV manufacturers are turning to the Mercedes Sprinter as a base vehicle. At the upscale Liner specialist Niesmann+Bischoff, the next generation of the Arto line is now being built exclusively on the Star Transporter.

The RV manufacturer Niesmann+Bischoff leads in terms of upper class and luxury within the Erwin Hymer Group. The model range consists of three Liner series, which is easily manageable, but genuine innovations are not a daily occurrence.

However, when the company from Poland sends the new generation of Arto to the Duesseldorf Caravan Salon (August 30 to September 8), it sets new standards: The Niesmann Arto, which is the most successful model of Niesmann and is now in its fifth generation, replacing its predecessor that has been built for ten years, is available in two versions: On the one hand, as Arto 78 with a length of 7.82 meters and a gross vehicle weight of 4.5 tons, and on the other hand, as Arto 88 with a length of 9.06 meters and a rear double axle with a permissible total weight of 5.5 tons. But what are the advantages of the Liner?

A lot of storage space

The Niesmann Arto is available in two variants.

First, there's the impressive storage volume of 4532 liters. A large part of this goes to the double floor, which has grown in height by eight centimeters to 37 centimeters due to flatter profiles in the new Alko frame. The storage spaces are accessible via high-raising bus doors, which are integrated uniformly in the sidewall and can even be integrated into the central locking system. Everything can also be loaded comfortably and easily via stable hatches.

The Arto, which is the most successful model of Niesmann and is now in its fifth generation, replacing its predecessor that has been built for ten years, comes with 300 liters of fresh water and 200 liters of gray water. Instead of cassette toilets, an optional black water tank with a capacity of 170 liters can be ordered. Instead of the usual gas tanks, a fixed 50-liter gas tank can be installed. The series-standard 150-Ah lithium on-board battery should ensure maximum autonomy, which can be expanded on request to 450 Ah. In addition, up to 660 watts of solar modules with a converter are available.

Open room feeling and continuous sightline

One reaches the storage areas in the attic through hatches in the sidewall.

Inside, the Arto scores with an open room feeling and a continuous sightline, which is significantly contributed to by the Face-to-Face seating group.

The driver's side seat can be transformed into two secure seats with a 90-degree swivel with just a few hand grips. A system that Niesmann+Bischoff has already patented in the smaller iSmove.

For a cozy living atmosphere, the wall covering consists of gray felt, as known from the iSmove. The sleek kitchen with hybrid gas/electric cooktops can be individually customized. Oven, microwave, dishwasher - everything is possible.

Another highlight is the first-time used Smart Caravaning Unit, with which Arto customers can monitor and control the on-board electronics near and far via a new app.

A lot of space for kitchen, bathroom, wardrobe ...

In the back bedroom above the large garage, there are comfortable single beds. The length growth of over one meter in the larger Arto-Model 88 is mainly noticeable in the larger kitchen, a even larger sauna, and a voluminous wardrobe, which would make every living room wardrobe envious.

The Niesmann Arto kitchen has hybrid Gas-/Electric cooktops.

Series production comes with the 110 kW/150 PS 2.0-liter Diesel of the Mercedes Sprinter 415 CDI on board in both Arto variants. However, against extra cost, the 125 kW/170 PS output version of the four-cylinder engine is also offered. With the Stuttgart Transporter as a base, the Multimedia System MBUX makes its way in, which still boasts one of the best speech control systems.

The base prices of €139,000 for the Arto 78 and €160,000 for the 88er-Model are not to be taken as references. With the long list of useful to luxurious extras, it's quickly a "2" in front of the price for the Arto 88.

The new Arto models, built by Niesmann+Bischoff on the Mercedes Sprinter, feature Mercedes-Models as their base vehicles. These luxurious motorhomes are available in two versions, the Arto 78 and the Arto 88, both of which have spacious interiors and advanced features.

In the premium line of RV manufacturers, the Arto is a standout, featuring Mercedes-Car derivatives as its base. With the latest iteration, the Arto 78 and Arto 88, comfort and innovation are taken to new heights.
