- Farewell utterer transitions into a grandmother figure.
News anchor Susanne Daubner (63) is about to become a grandma. She shared this information during a chat with Ina Müller (59) in the 200th episode of her ARD show "Inas Nacht."
During the game segment where they tossed around beer coasters, Müller inquired if Daubner wanted to be a "grandma." With a smile, Daubner replied, "Oh dear, I will be a grandma," prompting cheers from the audience. She also announced that this grande event will occur as early as December. "I'm really excited about it," said Daubner.
In the conversation, Daubner shared some insights into her personal life. Müller asked if she was currently in a relationship, to which Daubner responded firmly, "No."
Daubner on her ideal partner
When queried about her type of man, the 63-year-old mentioned that her preferences evolve with each life stage. However, she admitted that she does lean towards partners who are a bit younger. Workplace relationships are strictly off-limits for Daubner: "I distanced myself from that in my mid-twenties. I believe it's crucial to keep work and personal life separate."
Typically, Susanne Daubner keeps her personal life under wraps. The newsreader escaped from East Germany to the West via Hungary and Yugoslavia in 1989 and married her West Berlin helper. They have a daughter born in 1990. Daubner and her husband divorced in 2000, and she raised their daughter solo.
Born in 1961 in Halle an der Saale, Daubner began her career as a radio host in East Germany and later worked for Sender Freies Berlin (SFB) in the West. From 1992, she was employed by Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB). Since January 1999, Daubner has been a part of the ARD "Tagesschau" news team, making her first prime-time broadcast at 8 pm in the same year.
In discussing her personal life, Daubner revealed that she is not currently in a relationship. Despite her preference for partners who are a bit younger, she believes in keeping workplace relationships separate.
