Fans didn't get to see this sight of Lena on stage at the weekend. The singer had to cancel two performances due to illness.

Fans react disappointed to Lena's refusal

After cancelling her concert in Munich on Saturday, Lena Meyer-Landrut was supposed to perform at the Landesgartenschau in Wangen im Allgaeu on Sunday evening. However, this did not come to pass. The singer had to be taken to the hospital once again due to pain. Reactions on social media were overwhelming.

After the Tollwood Festival in Munich on Saturday, Lena Meyer-Landrut also cancelled her performance at the Landesgartenschau in Wangen im Allgaeu on Sunday evening at short notice. According to her team, she had to be taken to the hospital due to pain once again. Many fans expressed understanding and concern for the singer's health in social media. However, anger and disappointment were also mixed in with the comments.

The organizer announced the cancellation of the concert around 6 pm. An hour later, there was also an explanation on Meyer-Landrut's Instagram story: "Unfortunately, Lena's condition worsened during the afternoon and she had to be taken to the hospital with strong abdominal and kidney pain." The singer was quoted as saying: "I wish I didn't have to write this to you, but I can't change it: I won't be able to play the concert in Wangen today."

Despite this, she had shown optimism after the incident on Saturday and had indicated that she would be able to perform in Wangen. "I had to unfortunately cancel my concert in Munich at short notice", she wrote in an Instagram story on Sunday afternoon. "I didn't feel good all day and then in the evening I got severe abdominal and kidney pain, had to hand over to the medical team just before the show start and was then taken to the hospital." The former ESC winner thanked the medical staff.

"Deeply disappointing"

It "hurts insanely" that her fans had waited so long and had to leave disappointed again. "My conscience bothers me, but my body said no", so the 33-year-old singer. She "is resting now and doing everything she can to play the show tonight for you". According to "Bild", she even drove to Wangen im Allgaeu at night on Sunday and checked into a hotel.

Many fans are now concerned and hope that Meyer-Landrut is not seriously ill. On her Instagram page, there are numerous wishes for recovery. "Get well soon, dear Lena. Of course it's sad, but health comes first", it says there, for example. However, there is also criticism of the handling. After the cancellation in Munich, many visitors who wanted to see Meyer-Landrut in Wangen wondered if the journey was worth it.

However, many visitors still went despite the cancellation announcement on Sunday afternoon. "Extremely frustrating! We had a two-hour journey and had checked everything before our departure ...", reads a comment on Meyer-Landrut's Instagram account. "What a bottomless disappointment! The communication was completely amateurish." Some visitors wished for an earlier decision. "It could have been cancelled yesterday evening and then many people would not have travelled."

Above all, the scorching temperatures that concert-goers had to endure on site only to be sent home later, is causing great anger. "It's completely clear that health always comes first! However, it's about the fact that the organizer makes children and their parents wait for hours in 50 degrees in the tent and cancels an hour before official closing time", an excited fan comments. "Where do I get my money back? I came specially from Austria. The Grande Dame of concert cancellation", writes another briefly.

It's not the first time the singer had to cancel concerts due to health reasons. In August 2023, she couldn't perform after a riding accident and a double cruciate ligament rupture. But now she has some time to recover. Her next appearance is scheduled for July 19 in Plauen. The gig planned for July 1 at the festive week in Hessian Hadamar had already been "cancelled for production technical reasons" on June 24 by the organizer.

Despite the inconvenience caused to fans, Lena Meyer-Landrut's team announced another hospital visit due to her persistent health issues, specifically intense abdominal and kidney pain. Many fans shared their well-wishes for her speedy recovery on social media, expressing sympathy for the singer's current situation.

In light of the sudden cancellations, there were mixed emotions among fans, with some expressing understanding while others felt frustrated and disappointed, especially considering the long journey some had undertaken.
