Lena Meyer-Landrut - Fans disappointed after another concert cancellation

After the Tollwood Festival in Munich on Saturday, Lena Meyer-Landrut (33) unexpectedly canceled her performance at the Landesgartenschau in Wangen im Allgaeu on Sunday evening. Her team announced that she had to be taken to the hospital again due to renewed pain. Many fans expressed understanding and concern for the singer's health on social media. However, anger and disappointment were also mixed in among the comments.

"Condition worsened in the afternoon"

At 6 pm, the organizer announced the cancellation of the concert, which was scheduled to start two hours later. An hour later, there was also an explanation on Meyer-Landrut's Instagram Story: "Unfortunately, Lena's condition worsened in the afternoon and she had to be taken to the hospital again with strong abdominal and kidney pains." The singer was quoted as saying: "I wish I didn't have to write this to you, but I can't change it: I won't be able to play the concert in Wangen today."

Despite this, she had shown herself optimistic after the incident on Saturday, indicating that she would perform in Wangen. "I had to unfortunately cancel my concert in Munich last minute," she wrote on her Instagram Story on Sunday afternoon. "I didn't feel well yesterday and then I got severe abdominal and kidney pains, had to give in just before showtime and was then taken to the hospital." She thanked the medical personnel who helped her.

She feels "terribly sorry" that her fans had waited for so long and were disappointed again. "My conscience bothers me, but my body said no," so the singer. She "is resting now and doing everything to be able to play the show tonight for you." According to "Bild," she also drove to Wangen im Allgaeu at night on Sunday and checked into a hotel.

"Bottomless disappointment"

Many fans are now concerned and hope that Meyer-Landrut is not seriously ill. On her Instagram page, there are numerous get-well wishes, such as: "Get well soon, dear Lena. Of course it's sad, but health comes first." However, there is also criticism of the handling. After the cancellation in Munich, many visitors who wanted to see Meyer-Landrut in Wangen wondered if the journey was worth it. However, many still went despite her statement on Sunday afternoon. "Extremely frustrated! We had a two-hour journey and had checked everything before our departure. There was no cancellation. Only at 7:15 pm, when we were at the entrance of the horticultural show...", reads a comment on Meyer-Landrut's Instagram account. "What a bottomless disappointment! The communication was completely amateurish." Some visitors wished for an earlier decision. "One could have canceled it yesterday evening and then many people would not have traveled."

Next performance on July 19th

It's not the first time the singer had to cancel concerts due to health reasons. In August 2023, she couldn't perform after a riding accident and a double cruciate ligament rupture. But now she has some time to recover. Her next appearance is scheduled for July 19 in Plauen. The gig planned for July 1st at the festival week in Hessian Hadamar had already been cancelled by the organizer on June 24 "for technical production reasons."

  1. Despite the cancellation of her concert in Wangen im Allgäu on Sunday evening due to health issues, Lena Meyer-Landrut expressed her hope to perform at the show in Plauen on July 19th.
  2. Many fans expressed their discontent with the handling of the concert cancellation on Instagram, noting the late notice and the impact it had on their travel plans.
  3. The State Garden Show in Wangen im Allgäu was not the only event affected by Lena Meyer-Landrut's health issues; she also had to cancel her appearance at the Tollwood Festival in Munich the previous day.
  4. On her Instagram Story, Lena Meyer-Landrut shared that she had to cancel her concert in Munich at the last minute due to health issues, specifically severe abdominal and kidney pains.
