experiencing life as transitioned for Jürgen Drews post-relocation
For more than two decades, Jürgen Drews called the Münsterland home. However, it seems he's planning to spend his retirement in a different location. The 79-year-old recently relocated to Munich, moving in close proximity to his daughter Joelina. She shares her experiences with Dad next door.
Early in his life, he was the jovial ruler of Mallorca. However, a nerve condition known as polyneuropathy, along with his age, forced Jürgen Drews, then known as Jürgen Buttlar, to retire from his 50-year-long career in Schlager music. With his 80th birthday approaching in April, retirement wasn't just a professional choice for him, but also a personal acknowledgment of his advancing age.
Leaving his previous home in Dülmen-Rorup in Münsterland's North Rhine-Westphalia after 25 years, Drews moved to Munich with his wife Ramona. The reason? To be closer to his daughter Joelina and her boyfriend Adrian Louis.
German magazine "Bunte" recently chatted with Joelina Drews about her relationship with her father.
"Still remarkably fit"
"It's great for us. Given my father's age, I've always considered myself a family person, and I'm even more grateful now that he's nearby, allowing us to spend spontaneous days together," Joelina Drews shared, expressing her satisfaction with her father's move to Munich.
Her boyfriend Adrian Louis also appreciates the familial closeness. "Adrian and my dad have a strong bond. During my recent ten-day absence, Adrian and my parents spent quality time together. It's wonderful that we're all closer now," Joelina Drews said.
Regarding her father's health, which can cause symptoms like numbness, cramps, and paralysis, Joelina Drews said, "He's still remarkably fit for his age. Of course, he has good and bad days due to his condition, but that's to be expected at this stage of his life."
"It takes its toll"
Despite his health challenges, Joelina Drews admitted that it wasn't easy. "It naturally distresses you to see your parents age, experience ailments, or illnesses. You can't help but worry about their eventual departure. That's why it's essential to cherish every moment together now."
Their living arrangement should mean more shared experiences. Yet, Jürgen Drews remains absent from Munich's famous Oktoberfest. Joelina Drews and Adrian Louis enjoyed the festivities without him.
Joelina Drews enjoys the benefits of having her father nearby, as they can spend spontaneous days together due to his move to Munich. She shares that despite his health challenges, Jürgen Drews, who has polyneuropathy, is remarkably fit for his age.
The proximity of Jürgen Drews to his daughter and her boyfriend has strengthened their bond, with Adrian Louis also spending quality time with Drews when Joelina is away.
