- Ex-President releases summer playlist
Barack Obama (63) shared his musical summer with his followers. On Monday (August 12), the former US President traditionally shared his summer playlist on X (formerly Twitter). As usual for him, his headphones play both current hits and classic tracks.
A Musical Journey Through Genres and Decades
Among the 44 titles, there's something for everyone: current hits like "365" by pop star Charli XCX (32) and "My Best" by rapper Saweetie (31) are followed by oldies like "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones. In his message, Obama highlighted the diverse selection. "Summer's coming to an end and I wanted to share some songs I've been listening to - and it wouldn't be my playlist if it didn't have a diverse mix," he wrote.
His summer favorites include Beyoncé's (42) country single "Texas Hold 'Em" and R&B tracks like Tommy Richman's (24) "Million Dollar Baby". The mix also includes the TikTok hit "I Like The Way You Kiss Me" by Artemas (24) and the soulful "Don't Cry Baby" by singer Etta Jones (1928-2001) from the 1960s. "Hope you find something new to listen to!" Obama wished his fans with the eclectic song collection.
Obama's Summer Reading Picks
Besides his musical highlights, he also shared his favorite books of the year so far. This list was just as varied. The former politician recommended, among others, the science fiction novel "The Ministry of Time" and the "New York Times" bestseller "The God of the Woods".
Obama started sharing his favorite books with the public in 2009. Six years later, he expanded this tradition to include his music tips in the summer and at the end of the year. These are available as playlists for everyone on streaming services like Spotify.
His summer playlist on X features a mix of genres and decades, including contemporary hits like Charli XCX's "365" and classic tracks such as The Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
Obama's music preferences are as diverse as his book recommendations, with summer favorites ranging from Beyoncé's country single "Texas Hold 'Em" to the soulful "Don't Cry Baby" by Etta Jones.
