Ex-007 George Lazenby greets you from bed

He has only played the role of James Bond once. Nevertheless, George Lazenby will always be associated with the 007 series. Now the 84-year-old suffers a head injury in a fall. However, he can already smile again.

George Lazenby is on the road to recovery. As the 84-year-old's management has only just announced, the Australian suffered a head injury in a fall at his home in November. The former James Bond actor is now back at home after a stay in a nursing home in Los Angeles.

Lazenby's manager Anders Frejdh posted the positive news on X. He also shared a picture in which he poses next to the actor, beaming. Lazenby is sitting up in bed and smiling. A long scar can be seen on his forehead.

"It's not easy getting old," Frejdh writes about the photo, "but at 84, George has certainly proved what a fighter he is." In June of this year, the manager had to deny fake news circulating on social networks that Lazenby had died.

Shitstorm after Bond event

Lazenby had also recently attracted attention with negative headlines that were not completely out of thin air. According to the BBC, audience members complained after the actor's appearance at a Bond event in Perth in September 2022. The complaints concerned alleged sexist and homophobic statements made by the ex-007, with Lazenby allegedly bragging about his conquests in a questionable manner.

The actor apologized after the shitstorm via X (then still Twitter). "I'm sorry and saddened to hear that my stories on Saturday in Perth may have offended some people," Lazenby said in his tweet. It was never his intention to make hurtful or homophobic comments, he explained.

George Lazenby only played James Bond once: in 1969, he replaced Sean Connery in the role of the legendary secret agent in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". In "Diamond Fever" two years later, however, he had to make way for Connery again for a one-off comeback, before Roger Moore took over the 007 incarnation for twelve years in a row.
