The US actor André Braugher, who became famous for series such as "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", has died. He died on Monday after a short illness, his spokeswoman Jennifer Allen told the German Press Agency on Tuesday. Braugher was 61 years old.

The actor, who was nominated eleven times for an Emmy, won the coveted television trophy in 1998 for his leading role as a detective in the drama series "Homicide: Life on the Street" and in 2006 for the thriller series "Thief". In the New York cop series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2013 to 2021), he played a strict captain.
